DR. WOUTER SIOEN
SPECIALISATIES: heupchirurgie - handchirurgie
Dr. Sioen studeerde aan de universiteit van Leuven waar hij in 1996 slaagde met grote onderscheiding. Daarna specialiseerde hij zich verder tot orthopedist, met bijzondere interesse voor heup- en hand chirurgie.
Hij verbleef tijdens zijn opleiding te Exeter, een internationaal gerenommeerd centrum voor heupchirurgie. Hij heeft verschillende publicaties en voordrachten op zijn naam in deze deelgebieden. Zijn specifieke interesse gaat uit naar het minimaliseren van complicaties bij heupprothese chirurgie, en het verfijnen van de operatietechniek.
Daarnaast behaalde hij een bijkomende bekwaming in de handchirurgie in het gerenommeerd centre SOS mains, clinique de Fontaine te Dijon.
Hij specialiseert zich verder in het ziekenhuis in de heupchirurgie. Bijzondere aandacht wordt geschonken aan enerzijds het zo exact mogelijk herstellen van de anatomie van de patient en anderzijds minimaal invasieve technieken waarbij zo weinig mogelijk weefselschade wordt toegebracht. Dit heeft uiteindelijk geleid tot het ontwikkelen van de SPRINT techniek (SuPeRior IN situ Thp).
Daarnaast werken Dr. Sioen en Dr Van Holder zeer nauw samen om de hand- en polschirurgie in het ziekenhuis te verzorgen.
